al about sales was started from a simple passion to share life experiences, as it relates to sales, in order to help others to succeed.  al’s career began in the mid 1980′s when he purchased an auto recycling business (i.e. junkyard) in Raleigh N.C.  Under capitalized from the start he had to “outsell” his competition, despite less inventory and resources.  Through “relationship selling” a loyal customer base was developed, and maintained, with strong emphasis on quality, and customer service.

In the mid 1990′s he had the vision that the auto recycling industry was ripe for consolidation.  The idea never got beyond the meeting rooms, largely in part to al’s lack of experience, and failure to put together a viable plan, with a key management structure.  In 1998 someone else with the same vision, the right resources, and solid management with proven fortune 500 success, did begin to consolidate the industry.  LKQ Corporation came upon the scene and started making acquisitions.     al reached out and joined the LKQ family in August of 1999.

From 1999 until 2011 al was part of LKQ on the local, regional  and national levels.  At the end of his tenure he was holding title of “Offensive Coordinator” ( i.e. National Sales Manager) .   Primary focusing on the development and coaching of the internal sales force.

Over the past several years al about sales devotions have increased in readership beyond the once internal audience.  This site is a continuation of a never ending work in progress, striving to achieve the best in both personal and professional life.
